Sonne Magazine meets Sierra Leone`s Ambassador Stevens

Editor-in-Chief of the Sonne Magazine in the Federal Republic of Germany, Sarah Bomkapre Kamara has assured Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Germany, H.E. Jongopie S. Stevens of her magazines’ continued support in promoting Sierra Leone’s untapped potentials abroad.

She made this disclosure during her official visit to the Embassy last Friday, to introduce her widely read and popular Magazine. Sarah was accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Koroma, who is the Editor, Layout &Graphics.

Sarah, a Sierra Leonean born Journalist/Researcher who is currently based in Munich, Germany explained that the aim of Sonne Magazine is to create a platform for inter-cultural exchange between Africans and people who identify themselves with Afro-culture across Germany and beyond.

She added that issues relating to Africa and its unique cultures, as well as promotion of African entrepreneurs, social events and initiatives were among many other stories published by the magazine.

Being a Sierra Leonean with contributors from various field of discipline across the globe, Sarah said the magazine will continue to promote Sierra Leone’s success stories and its rich potentials to attract international audience.

She further said that she will do all her best to enhance the work of the Embassy in rebranding the country’s image in the Diaspora.
“We are ready to work hand in hand with Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Tourism through the Embassy to provide vital and useful information for the general public,” she affirmed.

Responding, Ambassador Stevens said the idea of publishing a magazine to promote the beauty of Africa is a brilliant and welcoming idea that needed support. He encouraged Africans in the Diaspora to take it upon themselves in shaping African agenda by leading and influencing the conversations on African issues and debates.

Ambassador believed that Africans should play a leading role in offering a unique insight about African affairs from an African perspective and actively contribute to the socio-economic development of the continent.

It is on the basis of the aforesaid that Ambassador Stevens implored Sarah and her team to continue with the good work especially in promoting Sierra Leone’s unique potentials.

He assured the magazine of the Embassy’s fullest cooperation in providing relevant and reliable information about Sierra Leone, through the office of the Information and Communications Unit.
